Migrating from an on-premises environment to AWS Outposts is a strategy organizations can adopt to leverage the benefits of the AWS cloud while keeping some or all of their computing resources locally for latency, local data processing, or regulatory requirements. This process involves carefully planning the migration and executing it effectively to minimize disruptions.

How to Migrate from On-Premises to AWS Outposts

  1. Assessment and Planning:
  • Evaluate your current on-premises workloads to determine compatibility and requirements for migrating to Outposts.
  • Plan the system architecture on Outposts, considering computing, storage, and networking needs.

2. Infrastructure Preparation:

  • Arrange the necessary physical infrastructure for AWS Outposts, including data center space, power, cooling, and network connectivity.
  • Order the Outposts through the AWS Management Console, specifying the required hardware configurations.

3. Outposts Deployment:

  • Once received, AWS will install the Outposts at your location and configure it to integrate with your chosen AWS region.
